We are looking for a Buyer to be responsible for day-to-day procurement activities. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this role ensures timely ordering, delivery, and stock availability while maintaining strong supplier relationships and accurate data across procurement, logistics, and customs processes. The Buyer will play a key role in keeping projects on schedule and supporting operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise and track purchase orders accurately, confirm supplier pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules, and ensure stock levels meet project and operational requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for suppliers, ensuring timely order confirmations, deliveries, and resolution of routine issues.
- Escalate significant risks to the Procurement Manager.
- Coordinate shipments from suppliers, liaising with freight forwarders and hauliers, tracking deliveries, and ensuring they align with project timelines.
- Support import/export documentation, customs declarations, and TSS processes, ensuring compliance with UK/EU regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, reorder materials proactively, and report risks related to shortages or slow-moving stock.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure all procurement, logistics, and customs data is correct in company systems.
- Provide clear, timely updates on orders, stock, and supplier performance.
- Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, improve supplier coordination, and enhance operational efficiency.
Skills Required:
- Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or Construction procurement.
- Strong understanding of materials, suppliers, and logistics coordination.
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Knowledge of customs processes is a plus.
