We are seeking a commercially driven Procurement / Buyer Assistant. Reporting directly to the Head of Purchasing, this role offers real ownership of purchasing activities, supplier management, and global sourcing across core product categories within the construction sector.
Working with a company that has a turnover in excess of £6 million, you will have the following duties:
- Play a critical part in driving cost efficiency, strengthening supplier performance, and ensuring product availability to meet customer demand.
- Take ownership of daily purchasing activity (orders, confirmations, delivery tracking, POD control).
- Sourcing products from global suppliers.
- Supporting and progressing into supplier negotiations on price, terms, and lead times.
- Monitoring supplier performance (OTIF, quality, invoice accuracy).
- Identifying alternative suppliers to strengthen supply resilience.
- Analysing stock levels, forecasts, and product performance.
- Managing slow-moving stock and supporting margin improvement.
- Coordinating inbound freight and import documentation.
- Supporting cost reduction and supply chain efficiency initiatives.
The Person:
- 1-2 years experience in a similar environment.
- Highly analytical as you will be required to analyse volumes of data and sales figures.
- Familiarity with purchasing via ERP systems.
This is a full-time permanent role with an early finish on Friday, company pension, health & wellbeing programme, and on-site parking.
