Mechanical Assembler
Our Client have a new clean, bright 63,000 sq. Ft site in Heywood, Lancashire is the largest containment factory in the northwest, just minutes from the m66 and m62. They have invested £1m in their facility, with state-of-the-art machinery and great staff facilities including showers, canteen, and plenty of on-site parking.
Our Client has been manufacturing world class clean air and containment equipment for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries since 1972.
Their products, including isolators, laminar airflow cabinets and microbiological safety cabinets, are used to prepare chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients, discover new therapies for Alzheimer\’s or test samples in hospitals. Currently looking for a mechanical fitter to join us in Heywood working within a growing team.
As part of this skilled team, you will have the opportunity to drive the success of an integral business function, which in turn, will make a positive impact on our organisation.
You will be tasked with assembling patient critical equipment to the medical/pharmaceutical industry including a variety of isolators for chemotherapy drug distribution such as microbiological safety cabinets, rigid isolators (gloveboxes) , Laminar airflow cabinets and Fume Cupboards.

- Salary from £30,000
- Overtime available at higher rates
- Hours are Monday – Thursday 7am – 3.30pm and Friday 7am – 1pm – 38 hours a week.

Your role includes:
- Using static machinery, battery powered tools including drills and general hand tools.
- Working in a safe manner, achieving a high level of quality
- Notifying the team leader of any shortages in regular materials used
- To complete projects successfully and follow instructions from your manager
- Reading and understanding detailed drawings
- Work with other teams to minimize delays and meet high standards.
- Assembling a full range of metalwork enclosure products manufactured by the company.
- Some travel to work at client sites across the UK, to fit and install the products.
The ideal candidate should come from a strong mechanical background, preferably be familiar with working to a very hight standards in the aerospace, nuclear, medical, or pharmaceutical sectors.
- It\’s essential to have previous mechanical assembly experience.
- A City & Guilds, NVQ 3 or equivalent is ideal but not essential.
- You will be required to travel to do ad-hoc installation work and will require a valid driver\’s licence (company vehicle is supplied for work purposes).
- Experience in working with and understanding detailed drawings.
- Previous experience of working to processes and defined quality systems.
- Working to high levels of accuracy and standards of finish.
- To be able to work independently and as part of a team.
