We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke steel fabrication and engineered solutions for highly regulated industries. This role will be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical designs, creating detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings, and supporting projects from concept through to production while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements.
This position would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in steel fabrications or heavy engineering who enjoys designing bespoke products and working closely with manufacturing teams. It will appeal to someone who is confident using Autodesk Inventor, has a strong understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes, and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality designs.
Key Responsibilities- Produce 3D models, manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Design mechanical solutions that consider manufacturability, installation, operation and product lifecycle requirements
- Prepare Designer's Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with BS 8888, CDM regulations and company procedures
- Work closely with analysis engineers, production teams and customers to develop and refine engineering designs
- Participate in design reviews, continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical support throughout project delivery
