We are currently looking for reliable General Operatives / Mechanical Mates to support a planned maintenance project at Blackburn Meadows Power Station, Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced mechanical fitters on a major industrial site, assisting with maintenance activities and gaining valuable site experience.
Duration: 7th June - 18th June
Digs Provided for travelling contractors
Scope of Works
- Working under the supervision of skilled mechanical fitters, duties will include:
- Assisting with the removal and installation of gearboxes
- Supporting maintenance work on drive shafts and rotary equipment
- Assisting with bearing and belt changes
- Handling tools, equipment, and materials
- General labouring and mechanical mate duties across the site
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area
- Supporting the mechanical team with day-to-day maintenance activities
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a General Operative, Mechanical Mate, Labourer, or similar industrial role
- Experience working within industrial, manufacturing, power generation, or process environments is advantageous
- Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a maintenance team
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual tasks
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and assist skilled tradespeople
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards
What's On Offer?
- Immediate start - CIS Rates
- 39 hours = £18.90 p/hr
- After 39 hours & Saturday Morning = £25.52 p/hr
- Saturday Afternoon & Sundays = £33.08 p/hr
- Project running from 7th - 18th June
- Work on a major UK power generation site
- Accommodation provided for travelling workers
