Our client is growing Manufacturer with a significant order book spanning over a decade worth of work at least in a busy and secure industry.
With an expanding team developing this Senior Buyer role focuses on supporting manufacturing programmes by managing strategic supplier relationships across the UK and Europe. You will ensure timely delivery of technically compliant materials and services, overseeing procurement from sourcing to supplier management while adhering to formal governance processes.

This position is ideal for a procurement professional with substantial experience in engineering supply chains, preferably in highly regulated environments and having sourced Metals / Raw materials such as Steel & Aluminium. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for high-value materials and critical suppliers to ensure timely delivery of compliant materials and services.
- Manage supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, supplier reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Purchasing of raw materials – metals, fabrications, lasered parts.
- Coordinate procurement inputs such as RFIs and RFQs for bid campaigns and production needs.
- Collaborate with internal departments and partners to mitigate supply chain risks and resolve issues related to quality, invoices, or technical matters.
- Support cost-saving initiatives, including commodity resourcing and efficient Bill of Materials alignment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Buyer
- Experience sourcing Metals / Metalwork / Fabrication
- Experience within a highly regulated sector, preferably Heavy Manufacturing, MOD / Defence or similar.
- Strong work ethic and resilient attitude towards challenges.
Location: Stockport
Contract: Permanent, Full Time with Flexible working hours & Hybrid working
Working Hours: 08:00-16:30 (Mon-Thurs), 08:00-13:00 (Fri)
Salary: 45k – 50k (dependent on experience)
Benefits: 7% Pension Contributions, 4% from candidate, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays.
