We are recruiting for an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to join a well-established manufacturing business. Although the role sits within R&D, previous R&D experience is not essential. The key requirement is strong hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience, combined with the ability to work from engineering drawings and manufacture components from scratch.
Duties
- Manufacture sheet metal tooling, jigs, fixtures and prototype components
- Work from engineering and mechanical drawings
- Cut, bend and form sheet metal
- Operate press brake and guillotine machinery
- Carry out MIG and TIG welding only when needed
- Drill, grind and finish fabricated components
- Modify and improve existing tooling
- Build components and tools from scratch
- Support testing and proving of new tooling
- Identify practical engineering issues and problem-solve
