Employment Solutions is recruiting an experienced CAD Technician for a growing UK engineering and structural steel business based in Manchester. This is a new position within the Design/Engineering team, working alongside an existing CAD Technician and closely with Engineers, Project Managers and Production.

The Role

  • Produce accurate engineering drawings, models and technical documentation supporting the manufacture and delivery of bridge and structural steel projects.
  • Produce and amend engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Prepare fabrication details, schedules and technical information.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Projects and Production.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and document control.
  • Resolve drawing discrepancies and technical queries.
  • Support design reviews and value engineering.
  • Ensure drawings meet project, client and company requirements.
  • Contribute to improving CAD standards and engineering processes.

About You

  • Previous CAD Technician experience within structural steel, bridge engineering, fabrication or a related engineering environment.
  • Strong AutoCAD capability.
  • Experience producing drawings for manufacture and construction.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes.
  • Excellent technical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND in Engineering, CAD or a related discipline.
  • Experience using Tekla Structures or other 3D CAD/modelling software.
  • Relevant CAD qualifications or professional certification.
