Are you an organised and motivated individual looking to build your career within Purchasing and Supply Chain? We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join a busy and growing engineering manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation where you will receive support, training and long-term career development.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Purchasing Manager and wider operational teams to ensure materials and components are sourced efficiently and delivered on time to support production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raising and processing purchase orders
- Monitoring supplier performance and delivery schedules
- Producing supply schedules to ensure continuity of supply
- Maintaining stock levels and inventory records
- Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal departments
- Supporting supplier negotiations regarding pricing, quantities and lead times
- Assisting with the identification and onboarding of new suppliers
- Collecting and analysing purchasing data and trends
- Ensuring products and materials meet required quality standards
- Supporting the Purchasing Manager with day-to-day purchasing activities
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience within a purchasing, buying or procurement environment
- Engineering or manufacturing experience would be advantageous
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Good IT and computer skills
- Knowledge of MRP systems would be beneficial
- Positive, proactive and resilient attitude
