This role
As one of our Senior Full-Stack Engineers, you’ll be instrumental in building highly scalable, robust, and innovative features across our entire ecosystem. We primarily develop our backend applications using Ruby on Rails, paired with modern frontend frameworks like React.js. If you’re not deeply familiar with Ruby, no worries—we care much more about your core engineering patterns and full-stack architecture skills. We offer dedicated training and up‑skilling to ensure you transition smoothly into our tech stack.
Your day-to-day will include:
- End-to-End Ownership: Driving your squad to design, scope, implement, and deploy critical full-stack features for our customers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering closely with a global team of designers, product managers, and UX specialists to translate abstract business needs into elegant technical solutions.
- Technical Leadership: Mentoring the junior and intermediate engineers within your squad, performing constructive code reviews, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- System Evolution: Navigating a complex SaaS product ecosystem, identifying application pain points, and proactively implementing mitigation strategies or process improvements.
- Quality & Security: Writing automated tests for your production code and taking absolute ownership of the reliability, security, and root‑cause analysis of application health.
Who you are
To thrive at Employment Hero, you’ll need to embody The EH Way – operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you’ll also bring:
- Senior Technical Expertise: You are a highly skilled, senior‑level software engineer. We typically look for 6+ years of experience, but we grade based on your technical capabilities and architectural depth over years on a resume.
- Language Agnostic Mastery: You are proficient in at least one major backend language/framework (e.g., Python, Java, PHP, Node.js). If you already know Ruby on Rails, great! If not, you possess the engineering fundamentals to pick it up quickly with our support.
- Frontend Proficiency: Proven hands‑on experience implementing web applications using modern frontend technologies (such as React.js, Angular, or Vue).
- SaaS & Cloud Delivery: Strong experience implementing, maintaining, and deploying complex, full‑stack cloud web architectures using Agile methodologies.
- A Collaborative Mentor: A natural team player who values collective success, communicates fluidly in English across distributed timelines, and is passionate about elevating the engineers around them.
Note: This position is only open to candidates who are currently living in and legally eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
