Freedom's Professional Services are looking for a Senior Design Engineer with a cabling system and or cable routing specialism to join our team based out of our offices in either London or Stowmarket. This role will work on the design, drawing and calculations of our projects, working with the wider Design team, with site visits to carry out surveys and data collection, as required. Hybrid working arrangement between office(s), home and site.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Manage and lead with delivering technically demanding projects.
- Lead all types of cabling projects (including undertaking calculations and producing drawings) from concept design to detailed design unaided, ensuring that the project is cost effective and delivered on time with the deadlines in the proposal.
- Have good commercial awareness with the ability to work closely with our clients to build a strong relationship.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of cable system design including very good knowledge of software packages including CYMCAP.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of cable routing design including very good knowledge of software packages including AutoCAD.
- Understand and mitigate complex engineering problems such as SEDs.
- Mentor and provide help/guidance to Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers.
- Attend and chair design team meetings with the team/client via teams or in person.
- Provide engineering solutions to site-based problems through TQ/RFI process.
- Have the ability to review/authorise cable design reports and drawings to a high standard, providing constructive technical feedback to all engineering levels.
- Ability to confidently conduct, supervise and demonstrate site visits to carry out cable route assessments, design commissioning, and investigations after failures.

- Degree qualified is desirable, but fundamentals from HNC/HNC is essential.
- Someone who is autonomous and needs little direction to get the job done.
