We are BDO, an accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions businesses need to navigate today’s changing world. Our clients are Britain’s economic engine—ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high growth businesses that fuel the economy.

BDO’s Corporate Tax practice sits at the heart of our Tax function and plays an important role in the wider business. Our team works collaboratively with others across BDO, offering clients in the UK and overseas expert advice and solutions that help them overcome their challenges. Tax is a dynamic, ever-changing industry. As our clients' needs and the regulatory environment evolve, you’ll encounter new problems to solve and new opportunities for growth.

Whether it’s advising clients on high-profile specialisms like Corporation Tax or leading the implementation of intelligent technology solutions, you’ll enjoy variety as well as stretch in your role. You’ll be providing Tax Advisory services to start-ups and scale-ups, private businesses and FTSE listed multinationals. Each of our clients has different needs, and in applying your expertise in different contexts, you’ll develop your skills and gain valuable experience that will serve you throughout your career.

Our clients trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, which comes from working closely with clients and building long-lasting relationships. You’ll be someone who can work pro-actively, managing your own tasks, but you’ll also be confident collaborating with others, communicating regularly with senior managers, Directors, and BDO’s Partners to enable us to serve our clients effectively.

This role will provide Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of corporate and owner-managed clients. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients. You will also provide assistance to Director/Partners in both client work and in the management of the group and on occasions the practice. A key part of the role requires the individual to actively seek, and keep the Partner informed about, any new business opportunities arising on existing and new clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key point of contact within the firm for the client, together with the Senior Manager/Partner.
  • Respond quickly to, as well as anticipate, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided.
  • Take full responsibility for project delivery on your portfolio.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firm’s criteria.
  • Review work prepared by more junior members of staff.
  • Liaise with HMRC to ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets.
  • Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner/Senior Manager/Manager.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level, and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent.
  • Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
  • Support, train, mentor and advise others in your area.
  • Challenge current practice, driving improvements and championing change.
  • Lead projects of limited scale or complexity.
