Our client is a long-established military charity delivering an employment support programme inside a North-East prison. This is a fixed-term contract role working directly with veterans in custody, helping them prepare for employment and life post-release.
The Role
You will enrol participants onto the programme, build trusted relationships, enhance job readiness, and coordinate opportunities for participants as they approach release. This means working closely with the prison, partner agencies, and community organisations to ensure continuity of support from custody into the community. This is a full-time, site-based role, five days per week at the prison location.
What We Are Looking For
You will be someone who can build genuine rapport with people who have faced real challenges. Experience in employment support, mentoring, probation, DWP, or a similar environment would be highly relevant. Prior experience inside a custodial setting is desirable but not essential — what matters more is whether you have the resilience, empathy, and motivational skills to do the job well. A background working with or within the veteran community is an advantage. An Enhanced DBS check is required. The contract runs to at least 2027, with potential extension to 2029 subject to funding.
