Love sales, but not the idea of relentless cold calling? This role offers the best of both worlds: account management, customer service and genuine sales opportunities, without being a high-volume call centre role. You will have real customers to manage, opportunities to follow up, quotes to convert and accounts to develop. You will also have the chance to learn a specialist product range and become a trusted point of contact for customers across a wide range of industries.

The Company

We are working with a leading UK manufacturer, who due to business growth is looking to recruit a passionate sales and service professional. With investment being made across the business and ambitious plans to increase sales, this is a great opportunity to join a company where your work will genuinely make an impact. This is a down-to-earth, team-focused environment. It is not overly corporate, and the business is looking for someone who enjoys being part of a close team, is comfortable picking up the phone, and wants to grow with the company.

The Role

As an Internal Sales you will manage and grow a defined customer account base, working with existing customers, lapsed accounts and new prospects to generate sales, follow up opportunities and build long-term customer relationships. You will be speaking with customers by phone and email, understanding their requirements, recommending suitable products, following up quotations and ensuring orders are processed smoothly.

  • Proactively contact existing, lapsed and prospective customers by phone
  • Follow up quotations, enquiries and samples to convert opportunities
  • Re-engage dormant or lapsed accounts
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across the product range
  • Understand customer applications and requirements
  • Ask the right questions to ensure the correct product specification
  • Prepare and follow up customer quotes
  • Process orders accurately on the internal system
  • Maintain accurate customer notes, call records and opportunities in the CRM system
  • Manage a structured follow-up pipeline
  • Work towards agreed sales targets and KPIs
  • Collaborate with operations, logistics and technical colleagues to ensure smooth order fulfilment

The candidate

We are looking for someone with energy, resilience and a genuine interest in sales. You do not need industry experience, what matters most is your attitude, commercial awareness and ability to build rapport with customers.

Experience

  • Internal sales
  • Telesales/ SDR, BDE roles
  • Sales account management
  • B2B sales
  • Trade sales
  • Customer account management
  • Sales support with proactive calling

You Will Need

  • Previous sales experience is important
  • Confidence speaking with customers over the phone
  • A proactive and organised approach
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail
  • The ability to ask good questions and listen properly
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in hitting targets
  • Confidence learning technical products and applications
  • A team-focused approach
  • Reliability and consistency
