Due to continued business growth, my client is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to support the Senior Management Team in their beautiful establishment in the heart of Leicester. This exciting opening comes with the opportunity for growth to General Manager, as their General Manager is relocating to open their new site in another city before December 2025. The culture is friendly, professional, honest & with a “hands on” attitude – these character traits are arguably more important than your previous experience.
Responsibilities:
- Recruiting, training, and supervising staff.
- Assisting with staff rotas.
- Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation.
- Promoting and marketing the business.
- Overseeing stock levels and ordering supplies.
- Handling customer enquiries and complaints.
- Taking reservations.
- Greeting customers.
- Problem solving.
- Preparing and presenting staffing/sales reports.
- Keeping statistical and financial records.
- Assessing and improving profitability.
- Liaising with customers, employees, suppliers, licensing authorities and sales representatives.
- Making improvements to the running of the business.
- Opening and closing duties, prepare the restaurant for service, meet, and greet customers, multitasking FOH sections, assist with the training of new staff.
What you need:
- Excellent communication skills as you will be in direct contact with customers & other team members.
- A passion for hospitality, stay calm in a fast-paced environment, manage customer concerns, providing excellent customer experience 'first time every time'.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
- Someone who can bring experience and knowledge to the role and help maintain the high level of quality their customers have come to expect from their restaurant.
What they want from you:
- Must be able to work 45 hours a week, mostly 9-6pm day shifts, sometimes this may be slightly later for special events, and weekends.
- It is desirable to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in restaurant and bar environments, but not essential.
- A super organised individual with a "can do" attitude who remains calm under pressure.
- You MUST be able to demonstrate that you have led team members before.
General duties:
- Prepare drinks – coffee through the day shifts, mocktails and soft drinks through the evenings and weekends.
- General cleaning, serving food and assisting with management responsibility.
- Must be able to organise and lead the team, delegating responsibilities as required.
- Must be able to motivate the team and lead from the front being a 'hands on' supervisor.
