This is a full-time role based in Swadlincote, with flexibility for some remote work. The Health and Safety Manager will oversee and implement health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting/reviewing risk assessments
- Managing occupational health initiatives
- Ensuring all relevant employee safety training is in place and up to date
- Leading efforts to ensure compliance with Environment Health and Safety standards
- Continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and well-being
Other Duties:
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures
- Conduct compliance audits and risk assessments
- Monitor adherence to laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Oversee compliance-related business operations and control systems
- Maintain policy registers and ensure timely updates
- Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
- Manage incident registers and ensure breaches are recorded and addressed
- Support external reporting and accreditation requirements (SafeContractor / ISO9001 etc.)
- Management of insurance and inspection requirements for certified equipment
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Health & Safety, Environment Health and Safety (EHS), and Occupational Health
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance procedures
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective action plans
- Experience in the engineering, manufacturing or industrial sectors is a plus
