  • Experience in delivering fire strategies and technical advisory roles

The job role will entail

  • Work with Directors to improve efficiency, reporting systems and digital tools.
  • Leading the technical delivery of the fire engineering discipline across the business.
  • Setting technical direction, standards and governance aligned with regulatory and industry best practice.
  • Providing strategic oversight from concept through to remediation and completion stages.
  • Leading stakeholder engagement across high-risk, high-profile projects.
  • Driving innovation in fire engineering, including digital tools, reporting systems and the “Golden Thread”.
  • Leading bid submissions, frameworks and assisting in strategic client growth initiatives.
  • Supporting Directors in shaping the long-term growth and positioning of fire engineering services.
  • Representing the business at industry forums, CPDs and technical panels.
  • Leading recruitment, succession planning and team structure development.
  • Ensuring integration of fire engineering with wider multidisciplinary services.

Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

  • Chartered or working towards (IFE, CEng, MCIOB or equivalent).
  • Expert knowledge of Building Regulations, Fire Safety legislation, and the Building Safety Act.
  • Advanced understanding of façade fire risk, compartmentation, and remediation methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead technical governance, peer review and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness with ability to manage team financial performance.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence at senior stakeholder level.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical authority on fire safety defects, façade risk, and remediation strategies across the portfolio.
  • Lead complex technical analysis for high-rise and high-risk buildings, ensuring proportionate, compliant solutions.
  • Oversee and sign-off technical outputs including FRAEWs, fire strategies and remediation recommendations.
  • Drive consistency and technical excellence across all fire engineering deliverables.
  • Comply with, or improve upon, company Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead and oversee technical fire engineering delivery across multiple projects.
  • Report regularly on project status and risks.

Technical Competence and Fire Engineering

  • Act as technical lead for fire engineering across the business, setting standards and best practice.
  • Lead peer reviews, technical audits, and quality assurance processes across all outputs.
  • Oversee development of fire strategies, fire statements, and Building Safety Case inputs.
  • Provide expert advice across design, construction and occupation stages.
  • Mentor senior staff and develop future technical leaders within the team.

Procedures and Administration

  • Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure all outputs align with regulatory requirements and internal governance processes.
  • Lead development of technical templates, guidance notes and digital workflows.
  • Provide strategic input into procurement, consultant appointments and contract documentation.
  • Undertake bid submissions, and technical input to tenders.
