About Emperor

Emperor is a leading, full service corporate communications agency. Proudly independent and with a long heritage of nearly 30 years we are well known in the world of reporting but now in London over 50% of our work is in other areas. These include brand, employee engagement, campaigns, digital (including websites) and moving image and content production. We have a wide range of mainly B2B clients – ranging from large FTSE 100 clients to smaller clients such as regional law firms.

What makes Emperor a great place to work springs from the fact that we are employee-owned. This means employees have a strong voice in how we are run. We have retained our commitment to hybrid working and flexible working hours. Our culture is fair and based on trust, with a good work and home balance.

The role

Our Stakeholder Communications and Sustainability teams brings together strategic thinkers and industry experts with extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of corporate and sustainability communications. We use our expertise to advise clients, working closely with them to understand their business challenges, develop impactful solutions that help them stand out from the crowd and deliver memorable communications and reporting that resonate with diverse stakeholder audiences. Through collaboration and analysis we also keep up-to-date with best practice, the latest developments in disclosure and share our insights and guidance with clients and colleagues.

The role of a consultant is three-fold:

  • Advising clients – You will provide expert advice and support to clients to help them evolve content, metrics and case studies to demonstrate their approach to strategy, sustainability and governance. To support in delivering clear and consistent corporate and sustainability reporting and communications that meet stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements across a range of channels and formats, including pdf documents, the website and social media.
  • Business development – helping present Emperor’s stakeholder communications offer to existing clients and demonstrate the value of developing an impactful communications framework and plan, beyond simply disclosing or reporting data and information. To contribute to pitches and help win new business that supports Emperor’s growth.
  • Research and thought leadership – continuously scanning best practice to keep ahead of current and emerging trends and issues, regulations, market practices and standards in reporting and sustainability. Identifying the implications for clients and providing insights across a range of sectors. You will contribute to Emperor’s thought leadership programme, leading and collating research and sharing your findings through events, publications and articles for Emperor’s website.

You will have experience working in annual and sustainability reporting and a good knowledge of the corporate and sustainability communications landscape, including trends, regulation and best practice. Excellent communication and presentation skills and being comfortable presenting face-to-face to clients, prospects and colleagues are key. You will also quickly grasp key client information (e.g. business model and strategy, products and services offered, and challenges facing the business including primary competition and industry trends) and develop strategic approaches to communicate complex information in a simple way and deliver impactful communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide insights, advice and guidance on reporting requirements and leading practice in corporate communications, sustainability and reporting to existing clients
  • Conduct content audits and develop recommendations to help clients realise their communications and reporting ambitions
  • Advise on joined up communications across channels and formats, including pdf reports, digital and social media assets
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders including team members, designers and account managers
  • Contribute to our research and thought leadership programme reflecting Emperor’s point of view of and expertise in stakeholder communications
  • Contribute to and be involved in new business development and pitches
  • Support the identification and conversion of business development opportunities

A consultant:

  • Has strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to build trust and respect both externally and internally
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, sound judgement and analytical thinking
  • Has a proactive, can-do attitude that embraces collaboration and teamwork while being able to handle projects individually
  • Has good business and commercial awareness
  • Has unquestionable business ethics and integrity
