With 140+ years of heritage, Empee is a leading UK B2B fabric wholesaler, trusted by Fabric retailers, and manufacturers in the fashion, Hobby and craft industries. We’re currently undergoing a bold rebrand and digital transformation to reshape the future of textile wholesale and elevate the customer experience.
We are looking for an organised, analytical and commercially minded Merchandiser to join our growing Product & Purchasing team at Empee Silk Fabrics.
This is a hands‑on role combining replenishment, purchasing, stock analysis, product data and inbound supply. You will play a central role in keeping our purchasing operation moving and ensuring we have the right stock available at the right time.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, confident working with data and able to take ownership of the day‑to‑day rhythm behind our product and purchasing operation.
Job Description
Location: On‑site (Edmonton, North London)
Job Type: Full Time
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day‑to‑day replenishment and repeat‑buying process across our established product ranges.
- Analyse sales, stock levels, incoming quantities and supplier lead times to identify purchasing requirements.
- Build repeat‑order recommendations and identify potential stock shortages or overstock risks.
- Prepare purchase orders and track them through production, shipment and delivery.
- Maintain a clear overview of outstanding orders, expected stock and supplier delivery dates.
- Manage accurate product and purchasing data, including the creation and maintenance of new products within our systems.
- Coordinate and monitor incoming shipments and ensure purchasing information remains accurate throughout the inbound process.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding routine orders, quantities, production progress and delivery dates.
- Work closely with our Finance and inbound teams to resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, shipments and supplier invoices.
- Support accurate product costing and landed‑cost information.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to the Head of Product to support buying, replenishment and shipment priorities.
- Work closely with Product, Sales, Finance and Warehouse teams to maintain an efficient flow of stock and information.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within merchandising, purchasing, inventory planning, supply chain or stock management.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent Excel and general systems capability.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Commercially aware and comfortable working with sales, stock and purchasing data.
- Strong communication and supplier‑management skills.
- Able to manage multiple orders, suppliers and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proactive, process‑driven and comfortable taking ownership.
- Experience within textiles, fashion, wholesale or another physical‑product business would be advantageous.
The Opportunity
Empee is an established fabric wholesaler with a long history, but we are currently taking the business into its next stage of growth — investing in our product ranges, systems and the way we manage purchasing and stock.
This is an opportunity to become a key part of our new Product & Purchasing structure and take real ownership of the rhythm behind our stock and purchasing operation.
We are looking for someone who enjoys making the engine run — using data to anticipate what needs to happen next, keeping orders and stock moving and ensuring problems are identified before they become problematic.
