As a Roadside Support Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional roadside support services. Your role involves providing technical assistance for roadside tolling systems, troubleshooting faults, maintaining infrastructure, and ensuring the continued safety and functionality of roadside equipment. Your expertise will ensure smooth operation and rapid response to roadside incidents, playing a pivotal part in our success.
Roadside Support Engineer Requirements:
- Travel: Must hold a full current clean driving license, relative to the country you reside within. You may be required to travel to various locations throughout the UK at short notice and be prepared to stay away from home from time to time.
- Right to Work: Hold a valid UK passport
- Education/Qualifications: HNC/HND, BTS, or equivalent vocational qualification in IT, Networking, or Electronics, alternatively - demonstrable equivalent experience. ITIL Foundation certification strongly preferred, Relevant vendor or industry certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft) desirable. Equivalent practical experience supported by relevant industry certifications. Desirable qualifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Fundamentals
- Experience: Experience in an operational support, field engineering, or service desk environment. Demonstrable experience working within an L1 support model. Experience supporting business-critical or 24/7 operational systems.
- Languages: Proficient in English / French, or English / Spanish
Roadside Support Engineer Skills:
- Technical Skills: Basic administration and troubleshooting of Windows Server environments (2012–2022). Exposure to Linux server environments. Understanding of network fundamentals, including LANs, VLANs, IP connectivity, and fault diagnosis. Experience using monitoring and ticketing systems (e.g. SolarWinds, JIRA and other ITSM tools). Basic Active Directory administration and scripting exposure (e.g. PowerShell). Basic SQL and or Postgres administration. Knowledge of installation and maintenance of roadside and field-based systems.
- Service & Professional Skills: Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service and stakeholder communication abilities. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Strong written documentation and reporting skills. Ability to prioritise workload effectively in a dynamic, operational environment. Methodical, disciplined approach to technical work. Flexible team player capable of working within mobile technical teams and with third-party suppliers.
- Process & Governance: Working knowledge of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management. Basic understanding of security standards and best practices.
Desired Experience/Skills: Experience within the tolling, transport, or roadside infrastructure sector. Use of Visio, MS Project, and ITSM platforms. Experience producing technical documentation for non-technical audiences.
Additional Requirements: Full, clean driving licence. Willingness to participate in an on-call rota. Ability to work outside normal business hours, including night-time maintenance windows. Available to respond to incidents at short notice as and when required.
