The Opportunity
Vehicle Platforms is one of the larger teams within the Product Engineering organisation. The department has complete responsibility for the design and development of all BIW, Interior and Exterior, Propulsion and Chassis systems; from concept design through to volume production. With an increasing emphasis on Systems Engineering and virtual development techniques, the department utilises advanced AVA CAD and CAE to support the product development process.
This role in the Vehicle Structure Chapter involves working with a wide range of materials and construction techniques, challenging functional and commercial targets plus significant liaison with many internal areas of our business. It also has a significant scope for working with external component suppliers.
You will work on static sealing and corrosion prevention within the BIW structure. You’ll be responsible for the development of the components, such as adhesives, sealants, anti-flutters, cavity sealing baffles, plugs & patches, paint and cavity wax. You’ll collaborate with attribute owners like NVH and Durability & Robustness, as well as work closely with Purchase and Programme Management teams.
You will be responsible for those component designs and interactions with Body Engineering, to deliver robust designs for manufacture.
