Project Lead Engineer – Accessories Design
Job role overview:
We’re seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Lead Engineer to join our Accessories Design Team. As one of six Project Lead Engineers in the wider team, you will take full ownership of the design, development, testing, and approval of all Accessory or OE products for which Accessories have Design Team responsibility, for multiple motorcycle models. With full project ownership from concept to production, you will ensure that our accessories meet the highest standards of quality, cost, and performance. By driving to achieve premium levels of integration and following a customer centric approach, you will enable high levels of customer satisfaction and support the growth of a significant revenue stream for the business.
The Project Lead Engineer will ensure delivery to the time, cost, quality, and specification constraints within the NMIP framework, both directly and through your allocated Design and Senior Design Engineers. You will maintain excellent working relationships with all project stakeholders, working closely with all areas of the business
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Project Management: Lead the design and development of accessory products, ensuring timely delivery within budget and to specification whilst operating withing the NMIP project framework.
• Collaboration: Work closely with all project stakeholders including but not limited to Project Management, Functional Leads, Vehicle Leads and Product Planning to strategically coordinate development activities.
• Resource Planning: Create and maintain detailed project timing plans, allocate resources, and manage workloads with conflicting priorities to enable you, and the Design/Senior Design Engineers on your projects to meet project milestones.
• Testing and Approval: Plan and track all relevant development testing, ensuring all accessories are robustly tested and approved in accordance with test requirements.
• Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and support to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Communication: Represent the accessories team in Accessory and OE project meetings, collaborating with stakeholders across the business to ensure alignment and successful project delivery, and to gain visibility and influence key project decisions which impact your projects.
Qualifications:
Degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Product Design related engineering subject or relevant experience.
Experience:
Essential
- Significant experience working in a Mechanical Engineering with a demonstrated experience of technical excellence, and ownership of design and development work.
- Experience using CAD, Design Change management systems and Electronic Bill of Materials release and management for prototype and production builds.
Desirable
- Experience working on new vehicle design projects within a formal project framework throughout all project phases – Concept to Production.
