We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a passion for engineering and design. You must have exceptional attention to detail, great communication skills, the capacity to work individually and as part of a high calibre team, and have the ability to meet tight deadlines with no compromise on quality. You can expect to work on an expansive range of Motorcycle components and be responsible for developing Accessory equipment from initial styled concepts, through detail design, testing and development, right through to production. Accessory equipment is designed concurrently with new motorcycles and is developed and tested to the same exacting standards. You will work closely with our Chassis, Powertrain and Product Planning departments and liaise with external suppliers across the globe. Applying engineering first principles, the products you design will allow our customers to upgrade and personalise their motorcycles; you should be excited by the prospect of seeing your components on customers’ motorcycles in the near future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed component and scheme designs in CAD for a range of component/kit types including, but not limited to, pressings, forgings, fabrications, machined parts, injection mouldings and luggage.
- Drive the completion of work with full consideration given to all product, engineering, manufacturing and compliance constraints.
- Produce technical drawings to BS8888 & the latest industry standards.
- Liaise with stylists in the early phases of projects.
- Produce Scheme drawings to validate the integration of Accessory equipment with surrounding OE components.
- Release and up-issue products through the internal design change system.
- Create and manage Bill of Material Lists (BOMs).
- Liaise closely with other departments (in UK and internationally), and external suppliers.
- Document test work, design decisions and engineering justifications in technical reports.
- Use computer programs and advanced analysis for initial validation investigations such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Training is provided as required.
- Attend and contribute to specialist engineering working groups to develop and share best practice.
- Undertake and assist with projects as required by your Manager.
Qualifications:
Degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Product Design related engineering subject or relevant experience. Maths and English GCSE grade C or above.
Experience:
Essential: Experience using 3D CAD systems; full training is provided on PTC Creo. Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Desirable: Previous experience working in a Mechanical Engineering or Product Design role. Previous experience of working within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
