Role Description
The Family Solicitor will manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, separation, financial remedies, and child custody arrangements, providing clear, empathetic advice to clients. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing legal documents, preparing court bundles, negotiating settlements, and representing clients at hearings and conferences. The role involves working closely with colleagues and external professionals to support collaborative law processes and seek out-of-court resolutions where appropriate. The solicitor will maintain accurate file management, ensure compliance with regulatory and firm standards, and contribute to the development of family law services within the practice. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sunderland, requiring regular client meetings at the office and occasionally at external locations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, with qualification as a Solicitor or equivalent and a current practicing certificate.
- Demonstrated expertise in Family Law, including divorce, separation, financial settlements, and child arrangements.
- Awareness of Conveyancing and Commercial Real Estate to collaborate effectively with other teams when family matters overlap with property issues.
- Excellent client care, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially and professionally.
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a team-oriented, on-site environment.
- Experience in advocacy and representation in family courts; collaborative law training or mediation experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with legal case management systems, strong attention to detail, and commitment to continuing professional development.
