Our client is an award-winning accountancy firm dedicated to helping small businesses thrive throughout Devon. They now have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant to join them in their busy office in Newton Abbot. It’s a small and friendly office with a relaxed atmosphere, and the job will suit someone who wants to escape a corporate environment whilst still taking great pride in providing an excellent service to clients. As their Payroll Assistant, you will ideally have at least 2 years’ payroll experience, and be comfortable building relationships with your clients as you will often liaise with them to obtain various pieces of information in order to process their payrolls. What you’ll be doing as their Payroll Assistant As their Payroll Assistant you will be responsible for the delivery of payroll services to a wide spectrum of clients; just over 100 small payrolls per month. Your responsibilities will include: Payroll (primary function up to 4 days per week) * Processing monthly payrolls ensuring timely and accurate payments * Maintain payroll records and manage employee data updates * Respond to payroll-related queries from clients and employees * Assist with year-end payroll processes, including P60s and P11Ds * For a few clients you will be expected to do CIS returns and Pension reporting * Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices Accounts (secondary function) – Full training provided * Assisting with the preparation of small tax return cases (Personal Tax, Property Rentals & Small Sole Traders) Could you be part of this fantastic team? Experience requirements of the Payroll Assistant role include: * Payroll administration experience gained from either an in-house or an outsourced payroll environment * Knowledge of HMRC rules and regulations on tax, NIC and statutory payments * Competent and confident IT user including MS Office * Accurate, good attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure * Able to communicate confidently with clients over the telephone, by e-mail and in person They Offer * Salary up to £28,000 per year, negotiable for the right candidate * Company Pension * Private Medical Insurance * 28 days inclusive of bank holiday increasing by a further day for every 2 years of service up to a maximum of 33 days inclusive This Payroll Assistant job is a full time permanent position working 37.5 hours weekly, usually 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
