Head of Energy & Sustainability

C3 Group is an ambitious energy and sustainability consultancy helping organisations reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions and deliver practical routes to Net Zero.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Energy & Sustainability will take responsibility for the commercial, operational and technical performance of the consultancy.

You will lead an established team of Energy Consultants, Building Services Engineers and Designers while driving growth, strengthening client relationships and building C3’s profile across the industry.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced M&E, building services or sustainability professional who wants the autonomy to shape, lead and grow a consultancy.

  • Lead and grow an established energy and sustainability consultancy, shaping its strategy, structure and future direction.
  • Take full commercial ownership of pipeline, revenue, profitability, utilisation, forecasting and fee recovery.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of Energy Consultants, Building Services Engineers and Designers.
  • Combine business development, technical leadership and operational management in one influential role.
  • Represent C3 externally, becoming one of the leading faces of the business with clients and across the wider industry.
  • WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Develop and deliver the business strategy, annual plan, budget and growth objectives.
  • Win new projects through bids, tenders, frameworks and proposals across Net Zero, sustainability consultancy and M&E design.
  • Provide senior technical oversight across energy audits, heat decarbonisation plans, feasibility studies, retrofit programmes and low-carbon designs.
  • Lead, develop and resource the technical team, introducing clear objectives, mentoring, performance reviews and development plans.
  • Strengthen project governance by monitoring programmes, budgets, work in progress, invoicing, margins, quality and delivery risks.
  • WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Strong senior-level experience within M&E, building services, energy efficiency, Net Zero or renewables.
  • Proven experience leading and developing technical, engineering or design teams.
  • A successful track record of business development, tendering, securing projects and building senior client relationships.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing project performance, resources and profitability.
  • A relevant engineering, energy or sustainability qualification, ideally supported by professional membership or PAS 2038 experience.
