What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for plumbing and heating systems on modular construction projects.
  • Interpret architectural and mechanical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and material pricing.
  • Develop bills of quantities and schedule of rates.
  • Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits as necessary.
  • Ensure estimates are prepared in line with client requirements and submission deadlines.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market conditions, industry trends, and current pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, including calculations and assumptions made during the estimation process.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating, ideally within plumbing and heating for modular construction.
  • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing and heating systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A solid understanding of construction processes and materials is advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).

Desirable

  • NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
  • Experience working with modular building manufacturers or off-site construction projects.
  • Knowledge of renewable heating systems (ASHP, GSHP, solar thermal, etc.).
