Emmaus South Manchester is seeking a new Chair of Trustees to provide strategic leadership at an exciting time for our charity. Our next stage of development will involve fundraising and partnerships to secure a site, develop and progress the building, and launch our residential community.
Our new Chair of Trustees will oversee the exciting next stage of development of our charity. We already have the foundations of dedicated trustees, staff members and volunteers, and a thriving social enterprise that is helping to generate our start-up funds. Our next step is to establish a residential community that will provide a home and life‑changing support to people who experience homelessness.
The Emmaus model is proven in supporting those affected by homelessness, to help themselves and to help other people in the communities in which they are based. The model flexes to local need, responding to specific challenges in different geographical areas and delivering innovative solutions to poverty and social exclusion.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has the drive, passion and leadership experience to take our charity forward and achieve our goal of opening a new Emmaus community. Above all, we seek someone who shares the Emmaus values and is committed to helping people overcome homelessness for good. Previous experience as a charity trustee, knowledge of charity governance and experience within a start‑up organisation would be advantageous.
What will you be doing?
As Chair, you will oversee our start‑up project, maximising the contribution of trustees, staff and volunteers to ensure delivery of our charity’s purpose, strategic priorities, mission, vision, strategy and values. You will ensure that all involved remain focused on achieving our overall mission and objectives – to launch a new and empowering Emmaus community to support people who experience homelessness and poverty, supported financially by a successful social enterprise.
The role is hybrid. If you are enthused by teamwork, partnerships, fundraising campaigns, reviewing architect’s plans and ultimately seeing shovels in the ground, this is the perfect time for you to join Emmaus South Manchester.
