Looking for a fresh challenge and a fulfilling vocation? The Bishop of Guildford, Rt. Rev. Andrew Watson, is seeking to appoint the new Diocesan Director of Education as a key member of his senior diocesan leadership team from September 2016, following on from Canon Derek Holbird.

The Diocesan Board of Education has oversight of 86 controlled and aided schools, based in three local authority areas. In addition, there are 10 church academies, 7 of them under the control of the diocesan multi‑academy trust, The Good Shepherd Trust. The DBE also supports chaplains in a number of school, HE and FE settings. The Board seeks excellence in all aspects of its work at a time when there are exciting opportunities and demanding challenges. Building on outstanding work in the past, the Director will work with a highly skilled and dedicated staff team.

The Director of Education will be responsible to the Board of Education for leading this aspect of the diocese’s work and as a member of the Bishop’s staff team, will make an important contribution to fulfilling the overall mission of the whole diocese.
