Transforming the lives of Children and Young People

The Bishops of the dioceses of St Asaph and Bangor are seeking to appoint a Director of Education for North Wales; a newly created role with educational oversight over our diocesan family of 66 Church in Wales schools. Both dioceses are situated within some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK - encompassing stunning coastal and rural areas as well as National Parks; with tourism and second holiday homes an important attraction into the area.

You will oversee schools across 7 local authority areas – 50 in the Diocese of St Asaph (including one secondary school) and 16 in the Diocese of Bangor. Our schools are a mix of sizes and reflect their local communities - some rural, some urban, some are voluntary controlled, and some are voluntary aided schools.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Dioceses of St Asaph and Bangor, in a new role and department which is being created to provide a better resourced educational service to meet the growing needs of our Anglican Church schools. Leading a small team of gifted education and other professionals, our new Director of Education will help to ensure that collectively we support, champion, and challenge our school communities to flourish together.

Qualifications

  • Passion for serving children and young people through Church Schools
  • Demonstrable track record as an effective change agent within education or a similar sector e.g. senior school leader, governor, local authority/SIP partner or leader in industry/commerce
  • Caring, pastoral approach to supporting our people working on the ‘front line’ in our schools
  • Drive for excellence and inspiring others to the principle of Christian distinctiveness in education

If you are seeking a fresh challenge, have a clear and deep sense of vocation and can provide the leadership that inspires and motivates others towards excellence, then we would love to hear from you. A requirement of the post is that applicants must be practising Christians.

For an initial informal chat (in complete confidence) and to request an application pack, please get in contact with Liam Dowds, our Emmaus Advising Consultant, on 01737 652 043 or email him at ldowds@emmausleadership.me BEFORE applying.
