We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to be part of the founding team in the role of Senior Scientist. The successful individual will be the lead on all experimental science matters at the company. This will include developing, validating and running bioanalytical assays across a range of biomarkers from human samples; as well as running all proteomic and genomic assays for clients. This position offers the opportunity to develop novel biomarker assays to enhance health monitoring, which have the potential for commercialisation. The successful candidate will not only have strong expertise in performing and developing various assays for biomarker identification, including LC-MS, ELISA and immunoassays, but also experience running omics assays as a service for academic, biotech and biopharmaceutical clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of complex experimental programmes to ensure objectives and timelines are met
- Contribute to the scientific development of the company
- Lead the development, validation and run bioanalytical assays, such as ELISA or LC-MS, Immunoassays, Proteomic / Genomic Assays
- Execution of assays with a focus on safety, quality and timeliness
- Analyse the results to present these to the team and clients
- Operate as a point of contact for clients and the research team
- Responsibility for the maintenance of the laboratory and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Develop methods to enhance efficiency and identify opportunities to improve processes
- Responsible for ordering, installing and maintaining new and existing equipment in the laboratories
Essential criteria:
- MSc or PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a relevant subject
- Demonstrated experience delivering research projects in a CRO, biotech, or academic setting
- Expertise in biological sample handling, including processing, storage, and the preservation of various sample types
- Experience in developing and validating bioanalytical methods such as LC-MS, Flow cytometry or ELISA
- A passion for biomarker development and omics
- Ability to develop, optimise, and validate bioanalytical assays independently and delivering research projects
- Strong problem-solving skills with a self-starter mindset
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, early-stage lab environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and client-facing reporting
- Experience maintaining compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory guidelines
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of working to GLP or GCP would be an advantage
- Experience in data analysis of proteomic and genomic datasets
- Track record of publications, patents, or successful grant applications
