Role Purpose

The Migration Programme Lead owns how we migrate, ensuring migrations are safe, well‑planned, and resilient to risk. The Migration Programme Lead is accountable for defining and delivering the end‑to‑end migration strategy, planning framework and cutover execution for transitioning clients and products onto EML’s Arlo platform. The role owns how migrations are executed safely, including migration design, readiness criteria, cutover planning and the identification and mitigation of migration‑specific risks. This includes ensuring that migration considerations — regulatory, operational, data and technical — are explicitly surfaced, planned for and controlled. The role acts as the single point of accountability for migration safety and execution, ensuring migrations are repeatable, auditable and delivered without undue risk to clients, cardholders or the programme.

Key Accountabilities

    • Migration principles and success criteria
    • Migration patterns and sequencing approaches
    • Readiness and entry/exit criteria
  • Establish a repeatable migration framework that can be applied consistently across clients, regions and products.

Planning, Cutover & Readiness

  • Own detailed migration and cutover planning, including:
    • Data, ledger, card and transaction migration considerations
    • Parallel run and rollback strategies
    • Cutover runbooks, rehearsals and dry runs
  • Lead go‑live readiness activity and provide clear go / no‑go recommendations based on evidence and risk.
  • Proactively identify and manage migration‑specific risks, including:
    • Regulatory and compliance risk
    • Client and cardholder impact
    • Data integrity and reconciliation risk
    • Operational readiness and support risk
    • Third‑party and vendor dependencies
  • Ensure risks are documented, tracked, mitigated and escalated appropriately to Programme and SteerCo forums.

Delivery Governance

  • Lead migration governance and assurance, including:
    • Readiness checkpoints and reviews
    • Clear escalation and decision pathways
    • Provide transparent reporting on migration progress, risks and decisions to Programme Leadership.

  • Work closely with:
    • Commercial Migration Lead on sequencing feasibility and timing
    • Technology and Product teams on build and testing readiness
    • Operations on service readiness and support models
    • Risk, Compliance and Legal on regulatory requirements
  • Act as the authoritative voice on migration safety and execution across the programme.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Senior experience leading large‑scale migrations in payments or regulated financial services.
  • Demonstrated ownership of migration strategy, cutover planning and risk mitigation.
  • Strong understanding of the failure modes and risks of live platform migrations.
  • Experience operating at Programme, ELT and SteerCo level.
  • Deep knowledge of payments platforms, issuers, processors or ledger‑based systems.
  • Experience migrating onto new core or cloud‑based platforms.
