Expectations (must haves):
- This is a fixed-term maternity leave contract.
- Scientifically and ethically grounded: hands-on experience in scientific or medical publishing or communications, with a strong understanding of compliance, ethical standards, and industry regulations.
- Editorial standards: You bring experience in managing and executing peer review processes, ensuring content accuracy, credibility, and integrity.
- A supportive and confident manager: 3+ years of line-management experience, guiding and developing team members to deliver high-quality work.

What you’ll do:
- Oversee peer review: Manage the peer review process, resolve queries, and ensure content quality and target delivery.
- Maintain processes and compliance: Keep editorial and commercial procedures updated, efficient, and aligned with industry standards.
- Manage the publishing schedule: Develop and maintain the Editorial Publishing Schedule with the Editor, ensuring timely content delivery.
- Deliver KPIs and reporting: Own departmental KPIs and produce performance reports for journals and staff.
- Lead team performance: Guide staff development, oversee team performance, and line-manage Associate Editors.
- Promote wellbeing and progression: Monitor team wellbeing and support motivation and career growth.
- Strengthen cross-team collaboration: Foster strong communication and working relationships between Editorial and Commercial teams.
- Support team training: Coordinate and deliver training for new and existing team members.
- Contribute to editorial strategy: Work with the Editor to shape content themes and support strategic direction.
Key Information:
- Reports to: Editorial Director
- Hours: 8:30am – 5pm, Mon-Fri
- Working pattern: Up to 2 days flexibility to work from home (FT in office during probation)
- Location: This role is based onsite in our London/Moorgate office.
