The Opportunity (Subcontract Role)
We are seeking experienced Electrical and Refrigeration Subcontractors to support installation, commissioning, and maintenance works across UK client sites. This is a subcontracting role (not PAYE employment). You may already be working with other companies and are looking to take on additional project work. Work is available on a project-by-project basis, with ongoing opportunities for reliable and competent engineers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installation and commissioning of electrical and refrigeration / cooling systems
- Wiring, cable installation, and terminations in industrial and commercial environments
- Reading and working from electrical drawings and schematics
- Testing, inspection, and safe isolation procedures
- Planned and reactive maintenance of systems and equipment
- Working alongside project managers and site engineers to deliver works efficiently
- Completing site documentation, reports, and compliance paperwork
- Representing Emissis professionally when interacting with clients on-site
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in electrical installation within industrial or commercial environments
- Strong knowledge of wiring, control systems, and electrical installation practices
- Ability to work safely under RAMS and current electrical regulations
- Experience in maintenance, fault finding, and repairs
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- ECS/CSCS card (preferred)
- Refrigeration / cooling system experience is an advantage
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
Engagement Type
- Subcontract / Self-employed / CIS or Ltd Company basis
- Day rate or project rates (dependent on experience and scope)
- National travel required (expenses/terms agreed per project)
- Flexible scheduling based on project pipeline
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering and practical experience with electrical systems in industrial or commercial environments.
- Proficiency in Electrical Wiring, including installation, cable routing, terminations, and safe isolation procedures.
- Experience in Maintenance & Repair and general Maintenance of electrical equipment, control panels, and associated systems.
- Effective Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly on-site and represent the company professionally.
- Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent), and up-to-date knowledge of electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Familiarity with energy-efficiency or building services projects is advantageous, including work on power, cooling, or industrial plant.
- Ability to work safely in varied site conditions, use appropriate PPE, and follow risk assessments and method statements.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites when required.
