Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage and implement operational strategies, policies and procedures to attain service quality and revenue objectives for SkyCargo operations within the region.
  • Provide operational policy guidelines to cargo operations staff to ensure uniformity of cargo operations standards and resolve deviations from policy.
  • Plan, organise and direct operational activities for all online and offline points, delegating responsibilities to staff and third‑party contractors while staying within budget.
  • Ensure that the GHA and other service suppliers are fully briefed on Emirates requirements, monitoring service delivery and addressing any shortcomings promptly.
  • Manage HQ audits at UK stations, ensuring minimal findings.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations in all operations.
  • Provide technical and operational direction into Cargo commercial objectives in conjunction with the Cargo Manager, Sales Staff and Headquarters management.
  • Develop and implement revenue‑generating strategies for cargo‑related operational activities in line with company policies and SkyCargo’s commercial orientation.
  • Administer various functions and interact with governmental authorities for licensing, compliance with legal procedures and documentation for all types of specialised cargo (e.g., Dangerous Goods, Live animals) and ad‑hoc movements.
  • Resolve operational problems such as delays, cargo mishandling and transfer issues, minimising off‑loadings and maximising space utilisation while meeting client expectations.
  • Motivate, train and develop operational staff, including performance appraisals and development planning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) with at least 8 years’ experience in a cargo operations environment, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Awareness of regulations pertaining to Dangerous Goods, Live Animals and advanced cargo handling; holder of a current Dangerous Goods Certificate.
  • Knowledge of the local cargo environment, including customs formalities.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and e‑mail.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading, coaching and developing staff.
  • Fluency in English and the local language of the country of employment is essential.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Staff can only apply if they have completed a minimum of one year's service in the company.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK; the company will not provide assistance with obtaining work permits.
