Girls’ cricket is one of Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s core strategic priorities. With Manchester confirmed as a host city for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, there is a significant opportunity to drive a step change in girls’ participation, visibility and leadership across Lancashire.
The Girls Cricket Project Officer role supports the delivery, growth and long-term sustainability of girls’ cricket, contributing to participation growth, improved transition into clubs, and the creation of a meaningful legacy beyond the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The Girls Cricket Project Officer will deliver and support high-quality girls’ cricket activity across schools, clubs and community settings, with a clear focus on positive first experiences, sustained participation and transition into clubs and regular programmes. The role will also lead on girls’ leadership activity and support coordination of Women’s T20 World Cup 2026‑related projects, ensuring engagement opportunities translate into long‑term participation and leadership pathways.
The role contributes directly to the Women & Girls Manager’s strategic KPIs through delivery, leadership development, relationship building and insight that informs long‑term growth.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging, high-quality girls’ cricket sessions across schools, clubs and community settings, including festivals, holiday programmes and innovative formats such as Glow in the Dark cricket.
- Create inclusive, safe and enjoyable environments that build confidence, enjoyment and a sense of belonging for girls.
- Support progression from school and community activity into clubs, encouraging repeat participation and long‑term involvement.
- Work collaboratively with clubs, CDOs and partners to support retention, inter‑club activity and continued growth of the girls’ game.
- Lead and support girls’ leadership programmes, helping identify and develop future leaders, coaches and volunteers.
- Play a key role in the delivery of Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 girls’ engagement and legacy activity.
- Capture participation data, insight and case studies to demonstrate impact and inform future programme development.
- Support promotion of girls’ cricket through events, storytelling and digital communications.
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion, maintaining high professional, safeguarding and wellbeing standards at all times.
- Experience delivering sport to children and young people
- Coaching qualification (ECB Foundation Coach minimum)
- Strong communication and engagement skills
- Commitment to inclusive practice
- Ability to travel independently across Lancashire
- Experience of girls’ or women’s sport development
- Experience of leadership or volunteering programmes
- Cricket coaching or development experience
- Experience supporting events or major engagement programmes
