What Does This Care Assistant Job Involve?
- Personal Care: Assisting with washing, bathing, showering, dressing, continence care, grooming and mobility support (including hoists and walking aids)
- Meal Preparation, Nutrition and Hydration: Preparing and serving meals and drinks, supporting with feeding, monitoring dietary needs and following individual care plans
- Escorts: Accompanying clients to appointments, social events, shopping and family visits
- Medication Support: Administering medication (with training) and accurately recording and reporting
- Daily Living and Domestic Support: Light housework, laundry, shopping, errands, bill and appointment reminders, and assistance with technology
- Emotional and Social Support: Companionship, encouraging hobbies and engagement, reducing social isolation, and building trusting relationships
- Safety and Wellbeing: Monitoring changes in health, mood or behaviour, and following safeguarding procedures
- Record-Keeping and Communication: Accurate daily notes, incident reports, and clear communication with the office, families and professionals
- Training and Development: Attending mandatory and refresher training, and engaging in supervision and team meetings
