The role
We are now seeking a Domestic Assistant (Assistant Cook) to carry out all domestic tasks including cleaning and kitchen/cooking duties at Amberley Nursing Home in Chesterfield. Amberley Nursing Home is a 12 bedded purpose-built nursing home for older people who have a learning disability, dementia, complex needs and physical disabilities. It is staffed 24 hours a day by Staff Nurses and Home Support Workers and is situated in Calow, Chesterfield. This role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays and involves daily contact with service users. An understanding or awareness of supporting people with learning disabilities would be beneficial however not essential. You will also be required to complete mandatory training.

The ideal candidate will:
- Have good knowledge and awareness of statutory regulations, HASAWA 1974, COSHH regulations, and use of PPE.
- Be willing to complete mandatory training including safeguarding, moving and handling, food safety/hygiene training.
- Be aware that they may be in contact with clinical waste, bodily fluids and may be required to do some moving and handling which may include using equipment.
- Have an awareness of Equal Opportunities when supporting people with learning disabilities.
