Location – Home based with the ability to travel across the West Midlands (Designated office - Memorial House, Coalville, Leicestershire)

Hours – 21 hours per week, working over 3 days per week

Salary – £19,302 - £21,446 per annum Pro Rata (£32,170 - £35,744 FTE RFJ 6)

The role

As a Rural Partnerships Officer, you'll play a key role in helping to shape the future of rural communities by supporting the delivery of much-needed affordable homes. Working closely with parish councils, local residents and partner organisations, you'll help identify and evidence local housing need, ensuring new homes that genuinely reflect what communities need to thrive. This is a varied and engaging role where no two days are the same. You'll lead on coordinating housing needs surveys, analysing and interpreting data, and translating your findings into clear, practical advice that helps communities explore their options and move forward with confidence. You'll be at the heart of community engagement—organising consultation events, building trusted relationships with stakeholders, and supporting projects through their early stages. Alongside this, you'll contribute to wider rural housing strategies, strengthen partnerships across the West Midlands, and champion the work of Midlands Rural Housing.

The ideal candidate

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Have proven experience of data analysis, research and report writing
  • Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships
  • Be self-motivated, organised and able to manage priorities independently
  • Be flexible and adaptable in their approach to work
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office packages including Word and Excel
  • Be able to travel efficiently across a wide geographical area

Qualifications

Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) Relevant experience in research, housing, community engagement or similar area.
