ABOUT THE ROLE
A BRIEF SUMMARY
As a Vehicle Shunter, you will be manoeuvring HGV vehicles around our High Wycombe base and between our Oxfordshire maintenance facility. You will also facilitate the movement of fleet vehicles to operational and maintenance facilities within the Southeast of England, as required by the Operations Department. This role is ideal for drivers who value a reliable routine, and a supportive work environment. Weekly hours: Shift patterns - 7:30-16:00 or 10:00-18:30, Monday to Friday
Role type: Permanent, full time
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
The primary daily duties will be the manoeuvring of HGV vehicles at and between our various company premises. A careful, considerate, and detailed approach is required. When not driving, the role will also entail supporting the fleet with various other duties such as:
- Full compliance with vehicle safety checks in line with road traffic requirements
- Effective communication with all team members
- Refuelling of vehicles using company fuelling facility
- Cleaning/washing of Fleet assets as required
- Minor maintenance tasks such as bulb changes and reporting faults
- Coupling and uncoupling of trailers as required
- Any other duties deemed appropriate, such as yard cleanliness
- Forklift Truck operation (subject to training/qualification)
All employees are expected to contribute and participate in work activities in line with our management system to ensure the continual improvement of our business.
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE
- A HGV1 / LGV C+E Driving licence
- Excellent driving skills (particularly within confined spaces) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver (Shunting and/or Driving)
- A Digital Tachometer card
- A Full CPC Licence
- A polite and respectful manner
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- An ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills
- Trust by acting with integrity, accountability, and transparency
- Collaboration by working effectively across teams and sharing knowledge
- Innovation by contributing ideas and continuously improving ways of working
