Our mission is to provide the legal support our clients require in order to achieve anything from their basic needs to their wildest dreams and everything in between.

What are we looking for? We are currently looking to recruit a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor who ideally will have two plus years’ experience.

Where will you be based? This role can be based from our Penrith office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

How many hours will you be working? This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.

A brief overview of the role: This role sits within the Residential Conveyancing Team. We actively support one another and place a great deal of emphasis on teamwork. In this role you will support the pod lead in running their file count and provide technical support to our clients and lender clients. This will involve reporting on title, raising enquiries, preparing purchase reports and also supervising the pod when the pod lead is unavailable.

What will we expect from you:

  • Generating work: Your work will come from a mixture of delegation and work you will generate for yourself. We encourage all our team members to win work, which can be achieved in a variety of ways, including:
  • Becoming known as a go-to specialist in a field, including writing articles and speaking at events, both external and internal.
  • Attending networking events and flying the EMG Solicitors flag.
  • Developing relationships on a one-to-one basis.
  • Undertaking work: Our Residential Conveyancing teams work in a pod of three or four so in this role, you will eventually supervise and be supported by two or three colleagues in residential conveyancing assistant roles. Be confident in communicating with clients on the phone and by email. You should be passionate about providing:
    • Technically excellent advice and support to clients, delivered in a user-friendly way.
    • Being able to run files independently with minimal supervision.
    • Exemplary client service.
  • Getting paid for the work you do: You will be able to identify any additional work on a file that may result in the firm being able to charge extra fees. You will be able to agree abortive fees with the client for any transactions where we have worked on the file, but the matter has not completed. You will be responsible for taking monies on account of fees and disbursements on all new instructions.
  • To be able to perform this job you will need:

    • As far as qualifications go you will ideally need to be a fully qualified solicitor or Licensed Conveyancer.
    • You will be technically proficient and be able to raise enquiries and reports on all aspects of freehold, leasehold, and unregistered properties.
    • You will need to be an excellent communicator in how you work with both clients and colleagues.
    • Effective time management and organisation skills will need to be part of your skill set and you will need to be able to work under your own initiative to be proactive when working to tight deadlines.
    • We also love to promote from within the firm, so we are looking for someone who has a desire for continuous personal and professional development.

    • 4% Pension employer contributions offered through Standard Life.
