What are we looking for? We are looking to recruit a Business Analyst Executive with experience in professional services or regulated environments, who is confident in gathering and documenting requirements, analysing processes, and supporting project delivery. The role will suit someone organised, analytical, and proactive, with a strong interest in compliance and continuous improvement.
Where will you be based? This role will be based from our Durham office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.
How many hours will you be working? This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly; it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.
A brief overview of the role: The Business Analyst Executive will support the delivery of firm-wide projects, working under the direction of the Project Manager. Acting as a key point of contact between stakeholders and the project team, you will assist with gathering, documenting, and validating business requirements, helping to ensure projects are clearly defined and aligned to business objectives. The role will contribute to the development of practical, compliant, and efficient solutions that support the firm’s strategic goals and operational needs.
What will we expect from you:
- Generating work: Your work will be primarily assigned by the Project Manager and other senior stakeholders within the Project Office, in line with firm-wide project priorities. You will also have the opportunity to identify process improvements, propose enhancements, and flag emerging requirements that support project delivery and operational efficiency.
- Undertaking work: You should be passionate about providing technically excellent advice and support to clients, delivered in a user-friendly way. Exemplary client service is essential. We take the view we stand and fall as a team - you will need to work both on your own and as part of a team.
- Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Support the capture of business requirements through interviews, workshops, and process reviews. Translate stakeholder needs into clear, structured documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories.
- Stakeholder Support & Engagement: Work closely with department heads, subject matter experts, and external partners to ensure requirements are clearly understood and agreed. Assist with workshops and feedback sessions to validate requirements and manage expectations.
- Process Analysis & Improvement: Analyse existing processes and workflows, identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement aligned to business objectives.
- Project Planning & Delivery Support: Support the Project Manager in defining project scope, timelines, and resource requirements informed by business needs. Assist with User Acceptance Testing by preparing test cases and validating delivered solutions against agreed requirements.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse data and produce insights to support project decisions and prioritisation.
- Documentation, Governance & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Support adherence to internal governance processes and relevant regulatory standards, identifying potential compliance risks during requirements analysis and escalating where appropriate.
- Change & Continuous Improvement: Assist with the preparation of communications and training materials to support project rollouts. Contribute to continuous improvement of requirements-gathering practices and the ongoing maturity of the Project Office.
