Ready to take your mechanical design career into nuclear?

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer working in aerospace, automotive, marine, defence, building services, energy or another technically demanding sector and looking for your next challenge?

This could be your opportunity to make the move into nuclear engineering without having to start again.

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team delivering complex projects within the nuclear sector. Previous nuclear experience is not essential β€” your existing design experience, engineering judgement and ability to work in a demanding technical environment are what matter.

Why move into nuclear?

A move into nuclear can give you the opportunity to:

  • Build specialist experience in a sector with long-term demand for skilled engineers.
  • Work on complex, safety-critical engineering projects where your design decisions genuinely matter.
  • Transfer your existing mechanical design expertise into a new and technically challenging environment.
  • Develop knowledge of nuclear standards, processes and engineering practices.
  • Work alongside experienced engineers and build a specialist skill set that can strengthen your long-term career prospects.
  • Broaden your experience beyond your current industry while remaining firmly within mechanical engineering.
  • Become part of projects supporting critical UK infrastructure and the UK's long-term energy requirements.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop mechanical engineering solutions across the project lifecycle, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:
