Are you currently working as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with experience in the Energy/Defence space and experience in HVAC, small structural steel and chilled water systems? Are you currently based in the North West of England or happy to live/work away and base yourself in the area?

We currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer on a contract basis, this position is outside IR35 and offers long term work. My client is looking to engage with a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide independent Mechanical Design Service, this is a key package on a large scale Energy Project.

Contract Mechanical Design Engineer role Specification:
  • Produce and check design deliverables for small structural steel, HVAC Bracketry and chilled water systems (Calculations, models, drawings).
  • Provide technical advice on constructability, manufacturability and integration of supports.
  • Conduct independent design review of external supplier drawings.
  • Resolve design queries, offering expert advisory if required.
  • Deliver designs for HVAC Bracketry, chilled water pipework and small steel structures.
  • Review and approve third party technical submissions and fabrication drawings.
  • Prepare advisory notes or design mark-ups.
Contract Mechanical Design Engineer role requirements:
  • You will need to have a Mechanical Design Engineering background, with experience and understanding of HVAC, small structural steel and supports.
  • An understanding of chilled water systems and installation on Mechanical projects.
  • Knowledge of Structural Load calculations.
  • Relevant Design Software (PDMS, Tekla, AutoCAD) or similar.
  • Strong ability to provide independent technical advice.
  • Regulated sector experience would be desirable (Defence, Energy, Infrastructure).
