Electrical Design Manager/Expert – EMEA Data Centre Programme Fully Remote – Anywhere in Europe | Occasional Travel | Data Centres | Permanent / Contract A leading international organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager / Electrical Engineering Manager to support a major data centre programme across the EMEA region. This is a senior opportunity for an electrical professional combining strong electrical engineering and design management experience, ideally within the data centre or wider mission-critical sector. The role will support complex data centre lease and build projects, working with internal engineering teams, consultants, contractors, construction, commissioning, procurement and operations. This is a fully remote position, with candidates able to be based anywhere in Europe. Occasional travel will be required for key meetings, design workshops, technical reviews and site activities. The Role As Electrical Design Manager, you will manage and assure the electrical design process across major data centre developments, combining technical expertise with strong design-management capability. You will coordinate design teams, manage interfaces, challenge technical solutions, identify risks and drive design decisions through to resolution. The role covers the full project lifecycle from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. Working remotely, you will collaborate with geographically dispersed teams across EMEA and operate with a high degree of autonomy. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the electrical design process across data centre lease and build projects. Review electrical designs, schematics and sequences of operation against project requirements. Manage electrical consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams. Coordinate electrical interfaces with CSA, mechanical, controls/BMS and commissioning disciplines. Identify design gaps, non-compliances, technical risks and potential single points of failure. Assess risks to critical IT loads and essential systems and develop appropriate mitigation. Manage design deliverables, programme, dependencies and technical risks. Challenge consultants and contractors to ensure designs are coordinated, technically robust and buildable. Review RFIs, technical submittals, design changes and technical deviations. Provide technical support during construction and assist with quality and performance issues. Support procurement through technical assessment of electrical equipment and supplier submissions. Support commissioning teams with design verification and system performance assessments. Provide technical input into design changes, value engineering and risk mitigation. Support site inspections, supplier reviews, factory witness testing and technical meetings when required. Contribute to utility connection requirements, site-selection reviews and data centre campus infrastructure planning. Candidate Profile We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Manager, Electrical Engineering Manager, Electrical Project Manager or Senior Electrical Engineer with a proven data centre or mission-critical background. You should have: Significant experience in data centre electrical engineering and design management. Experience managing electrical design from concept through construction and commissioning. Strong understanding of critical power, resilience and redundancy. Proven experience managing and challenging consultants, contractors and suppliers. Strong understanding of technical governance, design compliance and engineering assurance. Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills. The ability to work independently across international, geographically dispersed teams. A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Fully Remote – Anywhere in Europe This is a fully remote opportunity and you can be based anywhere in Europe. You will work remotely with international engineering, design, construction and commissioning teams across EMEA. The role offers significant flexibility while providing the opportunity to work on major, technically complex data centre developments.
