The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of a major Data Centre development in the Paris region.
This is a senior, site-based Design Management position with a particular focus on Customer Fit Out (CFO) packages.
You will work across engineering, design, construction and operational teams to ensure technical solutions are coordinated, compliant, buildable and delivered to the required standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong Mechanical & Electrical engineering background, with experience gained within Data Centres, Mission Critical environments, critical infrastructure or other technically complex construction projects.
This role represents an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Design Manager to take ownership of customer-specific design requirements while working alongside multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Management & Customer Fit Out
- Lead Design Management activities associated with Customer Fit Out (CFO) packages.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of customer-specific design requirements.
- Provide technical support across Data Centre engineering and infrastructure systems.
- Lead and contribute to design, technical and Customer Fit Out project meetings.
- Coordinate external designers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
- Review technical designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and engineering submissions.
- Identify design risks, technical dependencies and interface issues and drive them through to resolution.
- Maintain effective Design Management processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
- Provide technical coordination across Mechanical & Electrical engineering disciplines.
- Support the design and delivery of critical infrastructure systems.
- Review MEP interfaces and ensure effective coordination between engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate technical submissions, equipment information and supplier documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, project specifications, operational requirements and safety expectations.
- Work closely with construction and commissioning teams to ensure the Mechanical & Electrical design can be effectively implemented on site.
- Support technical reviews and provide engineering guidance throughout design development and construction.
- Customer Fit Out
The role will have a particular focus on Customer Fit Out and the integration of customer-specific technical requirements into the wider Data Centre design.
Responsibilities may include coordinating
- Customer office fit-out.
- Storage and ancillary areas.
- Customer-specific MEP requirements.
- Specialist technical packages.
- Telecoms and communications infrastructure.
- Security systems.
- Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Interfaces between customer systems and core critical infrastructure.
You will ensure customer requirements are fully coordinated within the overall design, construction and operational strategy.
Language Requirements
Must be able to speak French and English.
The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is essential due to the international nature of the project and the need to work closely with French-speaking and international clients, consultants, contractors and technical stakeholders.
