Mechanical Estimator – Nuclear Sector

The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Estimator to join a growing team working on major projects within the nuclear sector across the North West. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator with a background in HVAC, MEP, building services or a similar mechanical discipline to develop their career within one of the UK's most technically demanding and strategically important sectors. With a strong project pipeline and long-term investment across the nuclear industry, this position offers genuine career stability and excellent prospects for progression.
The Role As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical works, supporting projects from early-stage tendering through to contract award.
Key responsibilities include: Preparing detailed estimates, quotations and cost plans for mechanical works. Estimating HVAC, mechanical building services and associated MEP packages. Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation. Producing accurate material, labour and subcontractor costings. Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations. Working closely with commercial, design, project and procurement teams. Identifying project risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities. Supporting tender submissions and ensuring estimates are delivered within deadlines. Developing your knowledge of nuclear-sector standards, processes and project requirements. Working as part of an experienced team delivering complex engineering projects.
About You We are looking for a Mechanical Estimator who has gained estimating experience within HVAC, MEP, mechanical building services, construction, engineering or a closely related environment. You may currently be working as a Mechanical Estimator, Estimator, Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, MEP Estimator or in a similar commercial/technical position.
You should have: Experience estimating mechanical, HVAC or MEP works. The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and scopes. Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. Good communication skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders. A methodical approach to producing accurate estimates. A willingness to develop within the nuclear sector.
