An excellent opportunity is available for a Quantity Surveyor to join a major project team working within the nuclear and energy sector in Bridgwater, Somerset.
This role is particularly suited to a Quantity Surveyor who wants to move into the nuclear industry and develop specialist experience on large-scale, technically complex projects.
Previous nuclear experience is not essential. Candidates from MEP, mechanical engineering, building services, construction, infrastructure or other engineering-led environments are encouraged to apply.
The opportunity offers a strong platform for professional development, exposure to major projects and a clear route towards more senior commercial positions.
The Role
You will work alongside project managers, engineers, contractors and procurement teams, providing commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial reporting.
- Supporting procurement, tendering and subcontractor management.
- Reviewing valuations, applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Supporting contract administration and change management.
- Working closely with technical and project teams to ensure commercial considerations are incorporated into project delivery.
MEP & Mechanical Background
A background in MEP, mechanical engineering or building services would be particularly valuable.
Experience with mechanical services, HVAC, piping, process systems, plant and equipment or specialist engineering packages would provide a strong foundation for the role.
However, the key requirement is solid Quantity Surveying experience combined with the ability and enthusiasm to learn the requirements of a specialist industry.
Moving Into Nuclear
For Quantity Surveyors coming from construction, MEP, mechanical or infrastructure backgrounds, this role provides an opportunity to transfer existing commercial skills into the nuclear sector.
You will gain exposure to the commercial requirements of highly regulated, engineering-intensive projects while developing specialist industry knowledge that can support your long-term career.
