We are seeking a Field Service Engineer based in Gloucestershire to manage overall support of our customers’ instrumentation installed base, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded with the highest level of professionalism. The role involves managing the service needs of our installed customer base for all instrumentation, including first‑line maintenance and repair services, site installation, commissioning, start‑up and after‑sales support, onsite at customer locations.
Responsibilities
- Carry out installation and commissioning, fault analysis, and repairs on Emerson instrumentation.
- Provide diagnostic, solving, calibration, and start‑up services.
- Provide on‑site customer training when required.
- Be available to support the on‑call rota for instrumentation support.
- Assist Sales Engineers in demonstrating products to potential customers and provide guidance in product application and after‑sales service.
- Proactively identify Service/Product opportunities.
- Report performance measures on lead generation.
- Complete all required reports, certificates, and relevant documents.
- Maintain full understanding of various service programs.
- Assist in the preparation of support literature for Sales opportunities.
- Be flexible to work throughout the British Isles, offshore or abroad, including unsociable hours and weekends to support customers.
Qualifications
- HNC/level in an Engineering field, such as electronics, computer science or control engineering.
- Proven experience as an Instrument Engineer in a process control environment with a particular emphasis on installation, commissioning and start‑up.
- Clear and effective communication skills, verbal and written.
- Understanding of C&I theory including control loop configuration and tuning.
- Experience in a B2B service environment.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in repair and servicing of Emerson Process Management and/or competitor products.
- Experience in Gas Chromatography.
- Strong IT skills.
