Senior Software Systems Engineering Manager

We are looking for a Senior Software Systems Engineering Manager, for our team in Crawley!

They will have key role in shaping and delivering innovative solutions that improve our core software product and in coordinating data science advances that deliver value through new actionable insights.

In this leadership role, you will take ownership of the technical direction, quality, cyber security and the day-to-day management of highly skilled software development and data science teams. As the line manager, you will be responsible for mentoring, performance management, workload planning, and supporting the professional growth of team members. In addition, you will actively contribute to the development of the software stack, leading work across the full software creation process – from project inception through design, implementation, and testing.

In this role, you will:

• Build an inclusive and supportive environment for employees within the team;
• Provide good day-to-day management to ensure high performance;
• Lead software projects from conception to delivery, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Develop system microservices using C# and Python.
• Craft and develop database schemas with SQL Server and Postgres; create ORMs with Entity Framework Core and SQLAlchemy.
• Implement and document comprehensive testing strategies (unit, automated integration, and system tests).
• Engage with the support team and visit customers to understand technical needs.
• Collaborate with project management for efficient project planning.
• Mentor and motivate team members, ensuring maximum teamwork and cooperation;
• In cooperation with the HR department, handle recruiting, Performance & Development Process, promotion of team members;

For this role you will need

• Degree in computer science, physics, math or similar fields;
• Core expertise in developing with C#, Python and SQL;
• Previous experience in leading teams;
• Experienced at working on large or complex projects using language and framework features at a sophisticated level (classes, interfaces, composition, events, delegates, data binding, multi-threading, networking layers and component architecture, SQL alchemy for database access etc.);

Preferred qualifications to set you apart

• Proven ability to improve development processes and documentation standards;
• Previous experience working in a matrix organization;
